Our teas
Amberfield Tea is a small, independent tea seller. We buy a handful of lots each season from single estates and sell them until they run out.
Each tea is listed with its estate, its harvest (first flush, second flush, autumnal) and the year. When a lot is gone, it is gone: next year’s tea from the same garden will taste different, and we would rather say so than pretend a blend is the same thing.
Brewing, without the ceremony
- Black teas: water just off the boil, 3 grams per 250 ml, three to four minutes. Longer makes it stronger and more bitter, not better.
- Green teas: let the kettle rest for a few minutes (about 75–80 °C), two minutes, and expect a second infusion to be as good as the first.
- Oolongs: hot water, short steeps, many infusions. A gaiwan helps; a mug with a strainer works.
Store tea away from light, heat and the spice cupboard. A sealed tin in a cool place keeps most of our teas good for a year.
The tea letter
Roughly once a month: which lots have arrived, which are nearly gone, and a short note on one tea worth trying. Nothing more frequent than that.
Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and most mail clients show their own unsubscribe button as well. One click is enough — no confirmation page.
We also write to cafés and shops that might want to stock a tea. If you would rather not hear from us, a one-word reply is enough.
